Films to watch

I am thinking about watching these 2 movies in the cinema in July. What do you think they are about?

28 years later

Japan release date: June 20th 2025

Director: Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting, Yesterday)

Starring: Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort in Harry Potter), Aaron Taylor Johnson (Inception, Kraven)
The rumour is Aaron Taylor Johnson was offered the role of James Bond but he turned it down

28 years later is part 3 of a popular Zombie series set in England. The first movie was released 23 years ago.

Some scenes were filmed using special cameras. What kind of camera are they using?

The director filmed some scenes on an Iphone Pro 15 Max (with special lenses).

Why do you think he decided to do this?

He wanted to be able to put the camera in interesting places (low on the ground, in the corner of rooms).

He also made special rigs so he could shoot 180 degree shots.

The first movie, 28 days later, was the first modern zombie movie to have fast zombies (that can run). It’s budget was $8 million and made $74 million worldwide.

This latest movie cost $60 million to make. Do you think it will make a profit?

F1: the movie

Japan release date: June 27th 2025

Director: Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun Maverick, Oblivion)

Starring: Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem (the bad guy in Skyfall, Dune 1 and 2)
The director wanted to use the same techniques he used in Top Gun, but put the cameras on cars instead.

F1 is about a cocky veteran driver who has to train a cocky, young, talented driver for an F1 team. At first they hate each other but they must learn to work together.

cocky = arrogant, “I think I’m great”

F1 the movie cost $250 million to make.
The actors are really driving the cars and they often filmed at real race courses during the breaks of races.

F1 doesn’t have a big marketing budget because it’s made by Apple so it will soon appear on Apple TV+.

Do you think it will make a profit?

Which movie should I watch?

Do you want to watch any of them?

Results: (as of July 4th)

Both movies have gotten good reviews.

F1 has made $166 million globally

28 years later has made $107 million globally
